Take part in the famed Cinco de Mayo celebrations and savour Mexico’s fiery music with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Québec, under the baton of guest conductor Francisco Javier Gutiérrez, featuring Alexandre Da Costa’s flaming violin and the bewitching tenor voice of Antonio Figueroa, who will be also accompanied by mariachis!
Come share in the passion of this flamboyant culture through symphonic works like Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 as well as songs by the legendary Luis Miguel. Delight in hearing Alexandre Da Costa’s rendition of Fire and Blood by Michael Daugherty, a piece that draws inspiration from various sources including the monumental paintings of Mexican artist Diego Rivera. Also note that Alexandre Da Costa has won a Juno in 2012 for his interpretation of the piece.
